After you figure out your Internet website name (www.YourName.com) then you need to "register" it so you can use it. The first step is to see if it's available. You can do this by going to www.NetworkSolutions.com and typing your name in the box.NOTE: Be sure to use only "YourName.com". You do not need to enter the "www" part. You can use any "extension" such as .com, net, .org however everyone seems to know the "dot-com" web addressess so that's the preferred one to get.Tech Stuff: The web address of "www.YourName.com" is referred to as a "URL" and the part of "YourName.com" is referred to as a "Domain Name". Basically, the URL tells your computer and web browser WHERE to go while the domain name is the NAME of your website (whew!). So once you find a domain name that is available you will need to "register" it so no one else can use it. You can go ahead and register it with Network Solutions or you can go to www.Register.com and register it there. You can also call us and we can register the name for you. There is NO COST to you when we register your domain name. The organization that is responsible for keeping track of all of the website names is called InterNIC. They will charge you $35/year to keep your website name registered and on file. They will mail you an invoice for their service.

Website addresses (URL's) can be either "parked" or active. A parked URL is simply resting on a computer somewhere and it not connected to the Internet.Some people register a lot of website names and don't really need to use them right away so they park them. You can do the same thing, so you can reserve your website name and then activate it when you are ready. You can register and park your website name with us at NO CHARGE. Just give us a call.
